Volunteer Project

Volunteer to help hospitalized Veterans in the greater Detroit region.

The Department of Veterans Affairs is excited to offer you an additional opportunity while attending the National Veteran Small Business Conference and Expo: the chance to volunteer some of your time to help hospitalized Veterans in the greater Detroit region. You will have the opportunity to support by assembling care packages for these Veterans on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, from 8:00 am – 11:30 am in the registration area.

To volunteer, please sign up for the volunteer project as you register for the conference. As little as 15 minutes can make a big difference in serving those who have served our Nation.

For those of you who are unable to join the volunteer project onsite (or who would like to contribute in additional ways), consider making a donation to support the project. Comfort kits are an ongoing need at all VA medical centers and health care systems. Donations are accepted on a regular basis to cover this need. If you would like to contribute toward the purchase of personal care items for Veteran comfort kits please send a check to:

VA Voluntary Service (10B2A)
ATTN: Laura B. Balun, Director
810 Vermont Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20420

Please make the check out to Department of Veterans Affairs. In the memo portion of the check, please write Small Business Conference (this will be used as a reference for your group). Please include with your check a brief letter with the intent of your donation along with a return address and to who the acknowledgement should be sent.

If you are interested in continuing your volunteer involvement with our Veterans once you return home, please visit http://www.volunteer.va.gov and select the Volunteer or Donate option.

On behalf of America’s Veterans who benefit from your generosity, thank you.
