Stephen A. Perry was appointed the
17th administrator of the U.S. General
Services Administration on May 31,
2001.
As Administrator, Stephen Perry is
helping GSA use modern technology
and sound business and management
practices to improve efficiency and
productivity and to make the wheels of our government turn more
smoothly.
His priorities have included assisting small businesses in their efforts
to win more contracts from the Federal government. During Mr.
Perry’s tenure, GSA has launched a Native American Business
Center, as well as an initiative to assist small business owners who
are veterans and service-disabled veterans.
Based on preliminary statistics for the first quarter of 2005, GSA has
awarded $3.3 billion in total prime contracts – and $1.1 billion of
that total has been awarded to small businesses. That translates to
35.96 percent, which is well above the government-wide mandated
goal of 23 percent.
